Less Proving | More Living

Eva believes that part of the reason we are alive is to enjoy life, not just push through from one drama to the next.  It’s impossible to show up for ourselves, much less anyone or anything else, for any extended period of time, when you are feeling small, lost, and out of sync with who you are meant to be.

As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live - Goethe

Life is a sequence of self-discoveries, and each chapter is about finding new ways to meet our challenges and transitions and grow.  The goal of Open Birdcage is to support people in recognising and integrating the feelings, beliefs and behaviours that are holding them back into a healthy, functional aspect of themselves, allowing them to be free to move forward according to their own unique measure of success.

Creative Highlights

Within the visual arts Eva has exhibited since 2003 in Brisbane and New York, with collectors from the UK, USA and Japan.  She also works as a scenic artist and designer on movies and theatre, and contributes to public art in the community and delivers youth art workshops.  With her professional background in psychology, she has given voice to various community issues through involvement in exhibitions in support of youth and mental health, and illustrated material for mental health resources endorsed by the World Health Organisation.   She has written and illustrated children's book, Little Things Big Things, which was conceived out of the desire to bring an awareness of global public health issues to an audience of all ages, as well as stimulate the practice of gratitude for simple things.    Eva is also active in the live music scene, performing on bass guitar, vocals and keys.
