My Approach
Your life is your art
Whether you are desiring to learn new skills to support your wellbeing, gain treatment for a specific psychological challenge, or are simply seeking a space to navigate through one of life's new chapters, we will collaboratively plan your therapy needs so that it all makes sense.
Therapy can never operate from a single one-size-fits-all approach, therefore therapy is tailored to include elements drawn from various evidence-based modalities. Open Birdcage is about approachable and down-to-earth therapy, couched within a strengths-based approach that strives to be as individualistic and holistic as you are in your wellbeing needs. Below are some of the more common approaches utilised in this practice:
CFT
Compassion Focussed Therapy enhances emotional regulation and self-concept by enhancing the brain's soothing system through key skills of compassionate mind training.
Somatic
Somatic techniques explore how the body holds and expresses experiences, applying various mind-body techniques such as EFT.
Positive Psychology
Promotion of well-being through the identification and development of mental and emotional strengths.
Cognitive behavioural
Focuses on identifying and disrupting conscious thought-feeling-behavioural patterns. Often used in conjunction with schema-informed approaches to address unconscious mental blueprints.
Before working together, you will be invited to a fifteen -minute discovery call to discuss your needs and expectations for therapy, and ask any burning questions. This call is free, providing an opportunity to determine if we feel we are a good fit and that I am the right person to support you. Therapy is provided via Zoom, with a dedicated and ongoing appointment time (which can vary week-to-week if needed), reserved specifically for you.
I work with clients who are 17 years+ and hold a particular interest in working in the following space:
